Evelyn Taylor - Yoga Teacher & Owner of Cedar Ridge Historic House I began my yoga journey alongside Iyengar trained teacher Judy Krupp back in the 80’s, when a friend suggested that I drop into class. I found the practice to be life changing! 'Yoga provided a toolkit to deal alongside physical & mental issues, offering coping mechanisms to deal alongside life's problems' 'Being present on the mat was comparable to having a short holiday - the therapeutic benefits of yoga were significant!' I practised regularly as well as was encouraged to study both Level 1& 2 Teacher Training in 2008 over a period of 2 years, alongside teacher/mentor Judy & Byron Yoga. I have taught regularly ever since. 'Yoga tends to evolve....it is vital to stay connected!' so I have attended numerous workshops over the years alongside Rodney Yee, Donna Farhi, Judy Krupp, Maria Kirsten, Michele Sierra, John Ogilvie, Leslie Kaminoff as well as others. My individual practice extends over 30 years, as well as my teaching style focuses on alignment as well as the small details of functional anatomy in a flow practice. I teach from a therapeutic perspective - a 'whole body practice' to address the needs of my students alongside variation for injury/restrictions. Yoga is not one size fits all! I urge my students to find their inner calm as they transition through a vinyasa flow discovering the dynamics of the breath....did I mention the music? (I love music - it creates an atmosphere of intent! I have a vast library of yoga music, as well as I absolutely hate drum machines as well as anything that is fake! Occasionally Prince as well as Robert Plant get a look in- it's all our story the tempo!) - as well as the accoustics in the studio at Cedar Ridge are sublime! What do I like best? I love watching my students transform both physically as well as mentally as well as become empowered. I love taking them on the yoga journey - all blissed-out after savasana. I love working alongside students who think they are too historic - age is no barrier! or too this, or too that..... as well as the fact that they've made the effort to come to class makes me want to be there for them! I love the fresh studio at Cedar Ridge, it is probably the nicest studio I have ever practised in. I continue to teach at the YogaRoom in St. Ives, Sydney each week, after all that's where my journey started.
